Excited, but jet lagged
Having flown through the night, and with only 2 hours sleep under our belt, we arrived at Dubai International Airport to find a fresh faced Saad Ashraf, the MintTwist GCC Regional Manager, waiting for us. He’d even cleaned his car specially!
Coming from a tame 16 degrees in London, the 38 degree heat was going to prove interesting. Good job we won’t be spending that much time outdoors.
After a short 15 minute trip, we were at the apartment which is a stone’s throw from the Dubai World Trade Centre, the venue for GITEX 2011. Well done Greg on organising such a great location for the team. The only downside is the lack of internet connection in the rooms, but we can live with that – just.
After a short nap we ventured the 200 yards to GITEX hall 2, which is where MintTwist will be based for the week. Stand E2-32 for those of you who will be in the region and want to pop by and say hello.
We decided on a plan of action for tomorrow and set about organising a wireless internet connection for the stand. By this point Greg and myself were starting to flag a little so we decided to complete the remainder of our shopping (sweets, bowls, food, plugs) and then head on out for an early dinner.
As it was Greg’s birthday we went out for a sumptuous Pakistani dinner at the Barbeque Delight restaurant. We had our fill and raced back to the apartment for 10 hours of much needed rest.
Tomorrow is the big day.
